Esmerelda arrived at Yolo County Animal Services missing part of her left back limb. After being checked out by the shelter's vet, it was determined at that her leg was damaged by some form of trauma (previous injury) rather than a congenital defect. She is a very brave girl, and her will to live is obviously very strong. She still has just enough of her leg that she tries to walk on it, which is not ideal for her balance and could possibly result in further damage to her leg. The current ideal solution is to amputate this leg when she is a older and 'plumped up.' We hope to be able to do the surgery at the same time that she is spayed to minimize the number of times she must go through recovery and anesthesia. For the time being she is relaxing in her foster home of the Yolo County SPCA purring, playing with the other foster kittens, eating well and growing. If you would like to help with her surgery all donations are appreciated. Esmerelda thanks you!
