Dog & Cat Licenses

How To Obtain a Dog License

By law, all dogs and puppies must be licensed.

This applies to all dogs living within Yolo County, regardless of whether they reside in a city or in an unincorporated area of the county. Dogs entering the county have 10 days to be licensed. If the dog is licensed in another county of California, the license must be transferred to a Yolo County license within 10 days. If you live outside of Yolo County, please talk to your local animal control agency to discuss licensing.

You MUST bring proof of rabies vaccination. Also, if your animal is spayed or neutered, bring proof of that as well; it will cut your licensing cost.  Your license will be good for 3 years, or until 6 months after your animal's rabies vaccine expires.

Unaltered Dog: $38 per year (or $114 for 3 years)

Altered Dog: $19 per year (or $57 for 3 years)
